He did it! Andrew completed his 2026 challenges

Two extraordinary challenges completed in 2026 for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust. Andrew trekked the Great Wall of China in May, then completed seven marathon-distance stages in seven consecutive days across England’s Coast to Coast National Trail, reaching Robin Hood’s Bay on 5 August. The walking is finished, but the fundraising continues: the JustGiving page is still live, and the charity raffles and arrowhead auction are open until 8:00pm on 30 September 2026.

The Challenge

Andrew completed approximately 200 miles across England in seven consecutive marathon-distance days. It was a gruelling test of endurance: steep climbs and descents, remote mountain paths, rain, exhaustion, dehydration, disorientation and a painfully hot, injured knee. Supported by family and friends along the route, he kept moving through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors until he reached Robin Hood’s Bay. Every difficult mile supported Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust and its plans for a new specialist cancer hospital and the East of England’s first dedicated children’s hospital.

Why I’m doing this!

After a car crash damaged my neck, a scan at Addenbrooke’s revealed a suspicious 27 mm lump on my thyroid. This led to surgery to remove the lump and part of my thyroid. The technology, expertise and care I received saved my life, and I’m raising funds so other patients and families can benefit from the same extraordinary support.
